Macho Tales From The Macho Life Of Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a name that every human above the age of 5 of the planet has heard of. There was a time when young boys had his posters on their walls not as the ‘Terminator’ but as the bodybuilder. The bodybuilder turned actor turned governor has achieved a lot of success in life and has done many great things.
This is the story of how the young boy who had dreams of becoming a bodybuilder worked hard even while in the army to achieve his goals and soon became the youngest Mr. Universe at the age of 20. He then went on to become one of the most famous actors of the ‘80s and ‘90s and then the governor of California.
1The man, the myth, the legend
Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the few actors who was already famous before becoming an actor. He won the Mr. Universe title at age 20 which gained him fame and recognition in the bodybuilding world. He went on to win the Mr. Olympia contest seven times which solidified his name in the bodybuilding world forever. You could say that acting was just a bonus prize for Arnold.
2In the Army
Arnold served in the Austrian Army from 1965. This was to fulfill the one year of service required by all 18-year-old Austrian males at the time which was law. It was during this time that he won the Junior Mr. Europe contest for which he had to go AWOL during basic training.
3This got him into trouble
Unfortunately, even though he had won, his army members did not like his going AWOL during basic training. He spent a week in military prison for his behavior. This is where he learned his passion for bodybuilding and where he decided to make it his lifelong goal. During this time he was also voted as the “best-built man of Europe”
4What did he do in the army?
If you thought Arnold being a classic ‘90s action movie star was the manliest thing he had ever done, then you’re wrong. When he was in the army he was a tank driver. Yes, Arnold knew how to drive and operate a tank. Unfortunately, this kept him from focusing on his bodybuilding work.
5He hid exercise equipment in the tank
To show you just how dedicated he was for his training he hid his training equipment inside his tank. He used to train when his friends would sleep. There was a toolbox inside the tank where he stored his equipment and would work out all night while his fellow soldiers slept. He would also use tree branches to do pull-ups.
