The 4-7-8 breathing exercise was formulated by Dr Andrew Weil who was trained at Harvard. As a relaxant it sedates you naturally and relieves stress and tension.
The technique requires you to perform the exercise in three easy steps. Just place the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Make sure it is placed just behind the front teeth. Now breathe while counting to FOUR. Then inhale and fill your lungs with air. Hold your breath for exactly 7 seconds and release while counting to EIGHT.
