People never know when habit becomes addiction. People tend to get addicted to many things like smoking, drinking, adrenaline rushes, but there are more dangerous things people can get addicted to and one of them is drugs. Drugs like meth, cocaine, LSD, heroin etc are strong addictive and getting clear from them is not an easy thing to do. However, this 26 year old woman managed to stay sober for 4 years and has shared her story with the world.
1 Who is the woman?
26 year old Dejah Hall has led a very struggling life. The woman recently posted on her locality’s Facebook page by the name of Sobriety Birthdays, a story about herself that has practically gone viral. She reveals how she was a hardcore drug user 4 years ago and shared a photo of herself from that time. She said that she was a drug user and said that “I was a monster. I was a monster in every sense of the word.” She was addicted to meth, cocaine and heroin and her life was out of control. She was also suffering from physical effects of her addiction. She was ultimately shaken out of her addiction by her grandfather on her birthday in December 2012. He looked at her and told her that she was hurting him.
2 What is meth and its dangers?
Meth or methamphetamine is a drug of amphetamine family, which is a group of stimulant drugs. It is also called crystal meth or ice. The drug when taken intravenously gives the user an intensive high, which is followed by an equally effective comedown. This property of this drug makes it highly addictive and hence person once hooked on this it is very difficult for them to get off. Regular users taking this drug may also feel agitated, paranoid and aggressive if they do not get the drug or if they tend to take too much of it. Along with addiction, dangers related to this drug are risk of heart attack owing to elevated heart rates, brain damage due to prolonged use, and overdose may cause damage to lungs, kidneys and even death.
3 Her amazing transformation
However, that comment from her grandfather, Dejah decided to take a look at what she had become. She says,” I went to the bathroom, and I looked at myself and I really looked at who I had become. This disgusting person, who needed to continue to stick these drugs in their veins because I couldn’t function,” However, she was arrested by police due to felony warrants. During her incarceration, her grandfather passed away and Hall decided to honor her promise of getting sober. Now after four years of being clean and sober, she decided to share her story with others via Facebook and she also shared that she was completing her studies in Bachelor of Arts and had a 18 month old child and wants to work in prisons, helping others overcome their addiction.
