Studies Say Travelling Makes You Happier Than Getting Married or Having A Baby
Whether you travel as a backpacker or on a premium budget, travelling when done for your leisure always has a positive effect in your frame of mind. The mental rest you receive from your daily hectic life especially when working is tremendously therapeutic and a positive influence on your health. Travelling gives many a boost in endorphins and the joys of travelling for some are far greater than the occasion of getting married or having a child. Research studies by booking.com found that many people regarded the joys of travelling as the main source of their happiness in life. Here are the results of the study as well as some more important benefits of travelling.
1Traveling gives you an immediate happiness boost.
In the study, 17,000 people were interviewed from 17 countries to enable a more diverse attitude on travelling. Many confirmed that there wasn’t anything in life that could make them happier than going on vacation. 77% said that their mood brightened up the moment they booked a holiday for themselves.
2Traveling can bring more happiness than other important life events.
What intrigued researchers most was the fact that people regarded travelling as more important than other happy events such as marriage. 49% of people said that they felt much happier when planning and going on vacation than they felt on their wedding day.
3Travelling made some happier than having a baby
More than 50% of the volunteers revealed that even dating with a partner did not give them that emotional upliftment as they got when travelling on vacation. 45% said that travelling made them happier than getting engaged and 29% said that travelling gave them a bigger emotional boost than having their baby.
4Shopping can’t provide you with that much joy.
All women love shopping including several men too but it just so turned out that 70% of people in the study said that a vacation was more self-satisfying and happier than a shopping spree. This shows that people are even willing to forego the comfort of purchasing things just for the sake of travelling and having new experiences.
