George ‘professor’ Burchett the self-styled king of tattooists was expelled from school for tattooing 12 students. He joined the Navy where he developed his skills further as one of the most popular tattoo artists in London.

Among magically restored photographs, this black and white image was taken of Sergeant George Camblair at Fort Belvoir Virginia in September 1942. The sergeant is seen practicing how to wear a gas mask in event of chemical warfare and smoke. The photograph was taken by war photographer Jack Delano.

Who doesn’t know the iconic soccer player Pele? Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento; he is seen here in the colors of his first club Sao Paolo of Brazil. He subsequently went on to play for Cosmos in the USA soccer league.

6 Lou Gehrig July 4th 1939
This photo was taken as Lou Gehrig gave his famous retirement speech. The first baseman that played 17 seasons for the New York Yankees passed away two years later from ALS in June 1941. Gehrig was nicknamed the ‘Iron Horse’ and won an all-star seven consecutive times.
