The 2019 Winner Of The Miss Universe Pageant Has A Powerful Message For All Women To Hear
There are many pageants that grace our TV screens every year. But, one of the biggest has to be Miss Universe. And this year’s Miss Universe competition was no different. It was held on December 8, 2019, at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States.
The finale saw 3 contestants from Mexico, Puerto Rico and South Africa. The final two came down to Madison Anderson from Puerto Rico or Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa. Thankfully the host Steve Harvey didn’t mess up again and we had a new, beautiful winner with a positive message.
1The Miss Universe pageant
Every year we have the Miss Universe pageant and every year we have a new face as the winner. The show has gained a huge reputation and a wide following. It is the largest pageant in the world in terms of live TV coverage, airing yearly in more than 190 countries worldwide to an audience of over 500 million people.
2The importance of the show
The idea behind the show is that every woman is beautiful. Women from every walk of life who want to wear the crown of Miss Universe tried their very best to win it. Along with Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth, Miss Universe is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. Many women train for years before entering.
3The 2019 winner
On December 8, 2019, a new winner was named and it was South African contestant, Zozibini Tunzi. She is the first Black woman to be crowned Miss Universe since 2011 when Leila Lopes won. She is also the third woman from South Africa to win the title. She started her career in 2017 and had a very long road to the top.
4Her win was important
The biggest issue most people have with these types of pageants is that the winners are usually White. Even though there is a huge diversity among the contestants the winner is usually someone with a white skin tone. Though these are all based on the beauty, personality and attractiveness of the contestants some still cry foul play when someone White wins.
Being of a dark completion and having short hair, Zozibini took the stage upon winning and had this to say. She said that she was born in a time and place where her skin tone was never considered to be beautiful. Today, upon winning the title of Miss Universe she wanted kids to look up to her and be accept their natural skin tone and be proud of it.
